PV softball team to sell fireworks; MVC looking for varsity coaches

A late rally helped the Blue Jays of the Capitola/Soquel Little League win this year’s District 39 Majors Tournament of Champions title.

The Blue Jays scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat the Mets of the Aptos Little League, 4-1, in the championship game on June 22 at Live Oak Little League field.

Capitola/Soquel finished undefeated with a 4-0 record in the double-elimination tournament, including two wins against Aptos.

Next up, the District 39 Majors All-Stars Tournament at Harvey West Field in Santa Cruz.

Grizzlies selling fireworks: The Pajaro Valley High School softball team will have a fireworks booth in the parking lot across from Jalisco Restaurant on Main Street.

The Grizzlies are scheduled to work July 1 and 2 from 3pm until dusk. They’ll continue July 3 and 4 from noon until dusk. They are accepting credit cards and cash.

Coaching vacancies: Monte Vista Christian is looking to fill varsity coach positions for its baseball, girls basketball, boys golf and girls tennis programs for next year. For those interested, please visit mvcs.org and search for the Career Opportunities page
