Whole Foods benefiting kitchen incubator program

WATSONVILLE — El Pajaro Community Development Corporation Kitchen Incubator program has been selected to participate in Whole Foods Market’s Community Giving Day.

On Thursday, five percent of net sales at both Santa Cruz County locations of Whole Foods Market in Capitola and Santa Cruz will be donated to the nonprofit.

El Pajaro Community Development Corporation, located in Watsonville, runs several small business incubation programs serving Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties.

Since its inauguration in 2013, the Commercial Kitchen Incubator has launched more than 40 food-based small businesses in the region including The Green Waffle, My Mom’s Mole and All Mighty Kombucha.

Workshop presents overview of starting a business

CAPITOLA — Santa Cruz County SCORE will hold a workshop on Tuesday for people looking to start a business.

The workshop, which takes place at the Capitola City Hall Community Room, 420 Capitola Ave., from 6:30-9 p.m., will present an overview of the issues that impact the success of businesses.

Shadowbrook Restaurant donating to Dientes

CAPITOLA — Diners can “Dine For Dientes” from 5-9 p.m. on Jan. 16 at Shadowbrook Restaurant, 1750 Wharf Road in Capitola.

Shadowbrook will donate one-third of all their food and beverage sales (excluding happy hour) toward providing free dental care for low income, uninsured children for those diners who mention they would like to support Dientes when making reservations. Dientes is a nonprofit dental clinic.
