WATSONVILLE—Cafe Ella, 734 E Lake Ave., will soon be rebranding itself with a new name and design.

Owners Jennifer DeVault and Erika Conrad will rename the business “Strawberry Patch Cafe” this month. The twin sister team bought the popular cafe in 2019 from founder and previous owner Ella King, who also owns Ella’s at the Airport.

DeVault says that the cafe’s menu will stay the same, except for a handful of items that will be added.

“We also have our alcohol license now,” DeValut said in an email. “We’re serving beer, wine, Bellini’s, mimosas and bloody Marys. We are hoping to get a weekend brunch crowd.”

The cafe was closed last weekend for painting and redecorating. New signs and an awning will be put up on Dec. 14.

“If all goes as planned our grand opening will be on Dec. 15,” DeVault said.
