A sedan is fully engulfed in flames Wednesday on the Buena Vista exit in Watsonville. California Highway Patrol Sgt. Grant Boles said the CHP initially got into a pursuit with a young male near Freedom Boulevard at Highway 1 just after 3 p.m. Boles said that due to unsafe action taken by the driver, the CHP backed off on the pursuit. The man eventually took the Buena Vista southbound exit and slammed into a westbound Ford F-350 pickup with a male driver and knocked it over onto its side. The driver was ultimately trapped inside the smashed-up truck for about 40 minutes. He was eventually rescued and hospitalized. The sedan driver was handcuffed and arrested at the scene, Boles said.
