Local law agencies found a large stash of illegal firearms ammunition following a routine car stop.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers in April stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in Santa Cruz County. The officers learned that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and that the vehicle was stolen.

In the following months, further investigation led to a search warrant for the driver’s residence in Monterey County.

The search was executed by the S.C.A.R.E. task force (Santa Cruz County Auto Theft Reduction and Enforcement) where they recovered several guns, ammunition and drugs.

The driver was arrested and will be charged with multiple felonies, including possession of illegal firearms.

The suspect was not named.

  1. Suspect should be named. Who knows if this is all the weapons and drugs he had. He could have stashed more some place else. Let us know who the criminals are in our neighborhoods.
