WATSONVILLE—The City of Watsonville’s Public Works Department is urging residents to keep any sandbags they received during the recent series of storms through the rest of winter.

“We are recommending that people keep them, just in case,” said Marco Diaz, an administrative assistant for the Public Works department. “There might be more storms.”

However, if residents would choose to return some or all of their sandbags, there are options. Two drop off locations are currently available: at the Ramsay Park front entrance on Main Street, and in the small parking lot across from the Buddhist Temple on Bridge Street. Both sites are open 8am-4pm through Friday.

Note: Sandbags should be returned with the sand still inside.

If residents cannot bring the bags themselves, they have until the end of today (Wednesday, Jan. 18) to call 831-768-3038 to arrange for someone to pick them up.
