WATSONVILLE — The Friends of the Aptos Library will be offering free gift wrapping for all purchases made at Kelly’s Books on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kelly’s Books is located at 1838 Main St. in Watsonville.

Nominate a Hunger Fighter of the Year

WATSONVILLE — Second Harvest Food Bank is currently seeking nominations for the 18th annual Hunger Fighter of the Year awards.

Nominees may be an educator, an advocate for the hungry, an advocate seeking food policy change, or a volunteer who is using their time, energy or resources to help fight hunger in the community. 

The Hunger Fighter of the Year is recognized at the Annual Awards Dinner in March.

Aptos High holding pottery, card sale

APTOS — The Aptos High School Ceramics and Art Department is holding a pottery and art card sale Saturday and Sunday at the school’s Performing Arts Center lobby, 100 Mariner Way.

Ceramic dishes and bowls, decorative artwork, greeting cards and more will be available for purchase. All items are made by Aptos High School students and teachers.

The sale will take place from 6-8:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1-2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Gary Kallman named president of First Alarm

APTOS — Alarm industry veteran Gary Kallman has been named the new president of First Alarm.

Kallman succeeds David Hood, who has served with the company since 1989.

Kallman has had a distinguished career in the life safety industry, having served in senior marketing and sales management positions at Radionics/Bosch, 3VR and DMP, among others.

“First Alarm has great people and a great reputation,” he said. “We are uniquely positioned to leverage emerging security technologies to take advantage of rapidly expanding market opportunities throughout Northern California.”
