Diabetes Health Fair returns
WATSONVILLE — The Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust’s 14th annual Diabetes Health Fair is scheduled for Friday from 2-5 p.m. at the Watsonville Plaza.
The fair will include free screenings for glucose and blood pressure. A raffle will be offered with prizes including a bicycle, scooter, cookbooks and more.

Monterey Bay Rose Society set for annual show
WATSONVILLE — The Monterey Bay Rose Society is holding its 37th Annual Rose Show on Saturday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at Alladin Nursery & Gifts, 2905 Freedom Blvd. in Watsonville.
The theme this year is “Queen of the Garden.” Rose Society members will share their secrets of growing roses. After the show, bouquets will be for sale.
Alladin Nursery will have live music by Gemini Jazz Band, wine tasting from Pietra Santa Winery, Hollister and Corralitos Market sausages.

Dog Training Club offering classes
WATSONVILLE — The Monterey Dog Training Club Inc. will be offering dog training classes starting May 9-11 at three sites in Santa Cruz County:
• May 9 in the Crosetti Building at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, 2601 East Lake Ave., Watsonville
• May 10 at Pet Pals, 3360 Soquel Drive, Soquel
• May 11 at the Mid-County Senior Center, 829 Bay Ave., Capitola
All levels of training — puppy, beginning, intermediate and advanced — will be taught by professional trainers.
Cost is $90 per eight-week session. Day and night classes are available.

WATSONVILLE — Pajaro Valley Arts is launching its May Membership Drive.
During the month of May, those who are the first, 20th, 40th, etc. member to join or renew (online, by mail or by phone) will receive a $50 gift certificate to local retailers such as Kelly’s Books, Lenz Arts, Ella’s at the Airport, Staff Of Life, Streetlight Records and more.
In addition, members may also win a gift of a five-night stay in a private retreat in Todos Santos on the Southern Baja Peninsula.
For a $100 annual membership to PVA, members not only support a local nonprofit with a 30-year history of providing cultural and artistic experiences to the community, they gain access to the North American Reciprocal Museum Association (NARM).
