Resident of Santa Cruz / Capitola

Wayne died suddenly and unexpected of a Chronic Aortic Dissection Rupture on July 2, 2018 at the age of 67 years old.

Wayne was born to Earl Russell and Willa Dean Wyckoff in San Francisco. He was named after his father Earl Russell and grandfather Earl Henry. By the time he was 3 the family moved to Capitola / Santa Cruz area and then to Aptos by the age of 8. He attended Live Oak Elementary, Aptos Elementary and Junior High. He was a graduate of Watsonville High “Class of 69”. He excelled in school with Industrial Art Classes. He enjoyed surfing and sailing. He achieved his driver’s license and airplane pilot’s license the same day on his 16th birthday. He learned the skills of being an electrician from his father who was an electrical contractor. His best talent and skill was woodworking. Even the way he cut firewood and stacked it was with detail. He designed and built several houses. Remodeled a historical shotgun house that was a former Assayers Office in Virginia City, NV. He built an impressive Tree House way before the Tree House or Tiny House movement was created. He had a love for German engineering especially in the performance of a Porche. That was defiantly his car of choice. He owned several of them. He seemed to be at peace, enjoying some of the fruits of his labor and nature around him, watching the Branciforte Creek flow by, the ocean, the sun rise and set from Capitola. He enjoyed the companionship of many dogs through his life.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother Craig. Wayne is survived by his father and mother Earl Russell and Willa Dean Wyckoff of Watsonville CA, sister and brother in-law Janet and Steve Wallace of Soquel CA, and one niece Jeana Wallace of San Diego, CA. ex-wife Susan Taylor Morrill, and soul mate Wilmien Mayo.
