WATSONVILLE — Elva Carranco died at Dominican Hospital on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was 80.

Ms. Carranco was born in Phoenix, Ariz. to Benny and Elva Tumbaga and moved to this area as a small child. She loved going shopping, gardening, crafting and her cat, Shadow. Ms. Carranco will be remembered for always being “dressed to the nines” and her cheery personality and smile. She was a member of the American Legion.

Ms. Carranco is survived by her longtime partner, Henry Mireles of Freedom; sons, Ray Carranco (Margaret) of Sacramento, and Randy Carranco (Marcella) of Hawaii; daughters, Roxane Carranco and Rhonda Fagundes (Rodney), both of Sacramento, and Renee Covita (Darrin) of Arizona; step-son, Fernando Elizalde Jr. (Maria) of Watsonville; brother, Benny Tumbaga (Debra) of Watsonville; sister, Lydia Brumblay (Ron) of Hawaii; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Tumbaga.

A memorial Rosary and Chapel Blessing will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, July 27 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Watsonville Catholic Cemetery.
