Fausto Romero Gomez died peacefully at his Watsonville residence, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018. He was 71.
Mr. Romero was born to Margarito Romero and Maria Jesus Gomez on Sept. 22, 1946 in Michoacán, Mexico. He was a resident of this community for 50 years and was a hard worker always providing for his family, working as a forklift driver at local canneries for about 40 years. He was a very friendly person who enjoyed taking long walks and making friends with strangers. Mr. Romero was a giving person, always helping out others in need. He frequently participated in community events as a volunteer. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and barbecuing at family gatherings. He was a loving husband and father.
Mr. Romero is survived by his wife of 50 years, Esther A. Romero; one son, Fausto Romero Jr. (Debbie); one daughter, Anna R. (Jorge) Rocha; five brothers; five sisters; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Friday, Feb. 9, beginning at 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. followed by the burial at Valley Public Cemetery.
