WATSONVILLE — Guitarist Chris Cain will be bringing his style of jazz-tinged, blues-soaked guitar and vocals to the ballroom of the Appleton Grill, 410 Rodriguez St. in Watsonville, on Friday.

Since his last appearance in Watsonville in April, Cain has traveled to New Zealand, Argentina, Italy, Australia and all across America.

Cain writes his own songs and he has nearly a dozen albums to his name. His recent self-entitled release, “Chris Cain,” on Little Village records has been called “one of the standout blues discs of the year.”

Friday’s event is in support of Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services. Attendees are asked to donate gas cards to assist Jacob’s Heart families to be able to travel to visit their loved ones in medical care and medical procedures.

Opening the evening will be local guitarist Steven “Scooby” Valdez of The Ville Band. Valdez has played extensively in the Monterey Bay and has developed a large local following.

He has given his time and talents to perform at several community benefit events including the Women’s March in Santa Cruz earlier this year in front of thousands of people.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 and available at the Appleton Grill and at brownpapertickets.com.
