North Monterey County High senior Riley Anderson was a ball hawk in the defensive backfield throughout the season.
It was all the reason to name the 5-foot-11 defensive back as the Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division’s defensive player of the year.
Other notable first-team selections include N.M.C. junior running back Kobe Hatten, junior left tackle Marcos Calderon, senior defensive tackle Ruben Cornejo, junior linebacker Sergio Anaya and Anderson.
Condors’ senior quarterback Brandon Ducusin was named to the all-league second team along with junior tight end Chris Villareal, junior defensive end Marcos Calderon, senior defensive end Carlos Alfaro and junior linebacker Robert Narez.
Watsonville High senior offensive linemen Angel Rocha and Nestor Ubaldo were named to the second team.
Wildcatz’ senior Juan Rodriguez and Condors’ senior Cyrus Coffelt were named to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.
On the offensive side, Santa Cruz High senior quarterback Dillon Danner was named the league’s offensive player of the year. He led the Cardinals to a Central Coast Section Division V title with a win against top-seeded Leland High.
King City High senior Francisco Sandoval was named the lineman of the year for his efforts on both sides of the ball.
