HS football: Doyle named top offensive player in PCAL Mission division

Monte Vista Christian junior Brendan Doyle got a late start to the season but he had no trouble getting into rhythm on the offense.

The bulldozing running back was named the Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission division’s offensive player of the year and he was also named to the first team on offense.

The Mustangs had the most players named to the all-league first team, including seniors Quinn Alexander, Andrew Montoya, Nolan Lukin, Anthony Shepherd and Nathan Renggli.

M.V.C. juniors Riley Moller, Nathaniel Fernandez and Daniel Castillo were also named to the first team. Moller was named to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.

Seaside High senior Kefu Leander was named the league’s most valuable player, while Alisal High senior Nicholas Enriquez was named the defensive player of the year.

M.V.C. and Alisal were co-winners of the Elgie Bellizio Team Sportsmanship Award.
