The Cabrillo College Seahawks knocked off top-ranked City College of San Francisco, 77-73, to win the San Joaquin Delta Tournament on Sunday in Stockton.

Trey Whitley had 18 points, four rebounds and three assists, Yeskin Williams added 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists and Davon Northcutt chipped in 14 points, five rebounds and three assists for Cabrillo (9-3).

Darnell White (10) also scored in double figures to end the defending state champion’s 43-game win streak.

Walter Urbina scored 25 points for C.C.S.F. (14-1) and Malcolm Johnson added 20 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Cabrillo beat Reedley College, 88-56, in the first round, and edged Merritt College, 67-62, in the semifinals.

Lenorris Mincey (20) and Dymond Hanks (18) combined to score 38 points in the win over Reedley.

Williams recorded a double-double in the victory over Merritt, finishing with 12 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals. Whitley added 19 points, four assists, three steals and three assists.

Cabrillo continues its preseason Saturday at San Mateo College.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Cabrillo wins MPC tournament – The Seahawks erased a 21-point halftime deficit to beat Lassen College, 78-62, for the M.P.C. tournament championship on Dec. 15 in Monterey.

Cabrillo (7-2) trailed 51-30 at the half, but took control of the game by outscoring Lassen  (10-5) 21-2 in the third quarter.

Heleyna Hill was named the tournament M.V.P., and finished with 19 points, nine assists and five rebounds in the championship game.

Veronica Johnson was named an all-tournament selection, and added 12 points, 10 rebounds and two assists on Saturday.

Teal Maixner added 14 points, and Michaela Thornton matched her with 14 points off the bench.

Cabrillo also beat American River College, 71-57, on Dec. 14, and College of the Siskiyous, 83-70, on Dec. 13.

Hill poured in 36 points in Dec. 13’s win, and Savanah Quintana added 18 points.

On Dec. 14, Hill had 27 points, and Johnson recorded another double-double, finishing with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Cabrillo hosts Butte College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
