Watsonville Police Sgt. Henry Robles (from left) is shown with Lynn Oliver-Gonzalez, vice chair of the Watsonville Police Assistance Fund, Tony and Becky Campos, and Officer Javier Ayala with his K-9, Axel, Tuesday at the Watsonville Police Department. Becky Campos recently donated $11,000 to WPD to defray the cost of purchasing and training Axel. “It’s just a great way to give back to my community,” Becky Campos said. “This city has always been good to me. I wanted to do something to help and to give back. I know they had a need and it feels like a huge accomplishment to be able to help in this way.” Robles said the department was deeply thankful for the gesture and called the move “extremely generous.” The addition of Axel now brings the department up to two K-9s.
