Letters to the Editor, Jan. 9: Join weekly protest

Join weekly protest

To the Editor,

Trump fatigue? He’s wearing us down, but we can’t give up. Our democracy is under attack, and we have to fight!

Come join the Our Revolution weekly protest at the Watsonville Plaza from 1-2:30 p.m. every Saturday. Jan. 13 marks one year of consecutive weekly protests.

We get hundreds of honks of approval, and many verbal thanks, but we need you to dedicate one-and-a-half hours to preserve our democracy and dump Trump. It will make you feel less helpless.

Staying on track

To the Editor,

The Regional Transportation Commission has a very important task: to improve the mobility of the citizens and visitors of Santa Cruz County by finding the best ways to transport our growing population.

There is a special interest group who call themselves Greenway who want to persuade the RTC to remove the existing train tracks. This group previously called themselves the “The Great Santa Cruz Trail Group” and recently changed their name to Greenway to make them sound more appealing.

Even though Greenway is very loud and determined, I hope our RTC can keep the original rail and trail plan unaltered and not be derailed by Greenway’s lobbying efforts. The tracks are for everyone, including us Watsonville folks who need an improved transportation option to get to north county.

Our county population is growing, we need both rail and trail. Let’s “stay on track.”
