Juliana Wilson hit her fifth home run of the season in Watsonville’s 7-4 Monterey Bay League Gabilan division win over the Gilroy High Mustangs on Tuesday in Watsonville.

The Wildcatz jumped on the Mustangs, scoring four runs in the second inning and leading 7-0 before Gilroy scored three in the fifth.

Watsonville played Monterey High on Wednesday in a makeup game — the results of that game were not known before print — and hosts Christopher High today at 4:30 p.m.

• Aptos 8, Santa Cruz 6 – The Aptos High Mariners picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday, beating the Santa Cruz High Cardinals, 8-6, in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play.

Mariah Sanchez scattered 10 hits and walked two, while striking out eight batters in a complete-game win.

Allie Diaz went 2-for-4 with a homer and five RBIs. Sunshyne Brechler doubled and had two RBIs. Sanchez also scored two runs.

Aptos (1-7, 1-1) plays at North Monterey County High today at 4:30 p.m.

HS VOLLEYBALL

• PV 3, Soledad 0 – The Pajaro Valley Grizzlies improved to 4-0 in Monterey Bay League Pacific division play on Tuesday with a 25-12, 25-14, 25-6 sweep of the Soledad Aztecs in Watsonville.

Geovanny Barajas had nine aces and 18 kills, Ruben Garcia added five aces, four kills and 21 assists and Rafael Betancourt chipped in eight kills.

Pajaro Valley, which is 11-4 overall, travels to Seaside High today at 6:30 p.m.

• Gilroy 3, MVC 0 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs lost to the Gilroy High Mustangs in a 25-14, 25-17, 25-10 sweep on Tuesday in Monterey Bay League Pacific division action.

HS BASEBALL

• St. Francis 3, SLV 0 – The St. Francis High Sharks notched their first Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League win on Tuesday, edging San Lorenzo Valley, 3-0, in Watsonville.

Andrew Ciandro tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout on the mound, while Mario Velasquez, Richie Martinez III and Josh Kovacs all drove in a run at the plate.

St. Francis (2-7, 1-2) hosts Aloha High, of Oregon, on Friday at 4 p.m. in the first of six non-league games.

• Aptos 7, Scotts Valley 1 – Forrest Hays allowed only one hit over six innings to lead the Aptos High Mariners past the Scotts Valley High Falcons to a 7-1 Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League victory on Tuesday in Aptos.

Hays also drove in a pair of runs and scored once. Brian Sakoda and Anthony Bella both went 2-for-3 and Tim Harris was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Aptos (7-3-1, 2-2) hosts Santa Cruz High on Friday at 4 p.m.

• MVC 8, Gilroy 4 – Dominic Felice had two RBIs and scored two runs to help the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs beat the Gilroy High Mustangs, 8-4, on Tuesday in Monterey Bay League Gabilan division action.

Jackson Collins was 2-for-3 with two scored runs and an RBI. Dylan McPhillips doubled.

Matthew Sanders picked up the win in a relief effort.

MVC continues its league season on April 6 at Monterey High in a 6 p.m. game.

• Palma 12, MVC 3 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs fell to the Palma High Chieftains, 12-3, on Monday in Monterey Bay League Gabilan division action.

Conor Emery and Abe Cohen doubled in the Mustangs’ loss. Ina Koenig, Dylan McPhillips and Cohen scored for MVC.

BOY’S TENNIS

• Monterey 5, MVC 2 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs lost 5-2 to the Monterey High Toreadores on Tuesday in Monterey Bay League Gabilan division action.

Mitchell Markoff recorded the Mustangs’ lone win in singles and the doubles team of Tiger Wang and Bob Xia also picked up a win.

• Cabrillo 9, Ohlone 6 – The Cabrillo College Seahawks suffered their first Coast Conference Pacific division loss on Tuesday, falling 9-6 to Ohlone College on the road.

Nick Ciandro hit home run and Easton Vidales knocked in two runs. Digger Gugale and Rex Gomez also had RBIs in the loss.

Brett de Geus took the loss, allowing nine hits and an earned run over six innings of work.

Cabrillo travels to Hartnell College today at 2:30 p.m.

• Aptos 210, Scotts Valley 223 – Max Meltzer, Adam MacDonald and Johnny Staka tied for medalist honors in the Aptos High Mariners’ 210-223 Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League win over the Scotts Valley High Falcons on Tuesday at the Pasatiempo Golf Club.

Aptos travels to DeLaveaga Golf Course today to play Soquel at 3:30 p.m.

• Harbor 264, St. Francis 268 – Chris Copriviza led St. Francis High by firing a 44 on Tuesday in the Sharks’ 264-268 Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League loss to Harbor High at DeLaveaga Golf Course in Santa Cruz.

Izzie Mendez followed with a 48 and David Vasquez carded a 51.
