Aptos High’s longtime coach Jamie Townsend was named a Central Coast Section Spring Honor Coach for the 2016-17 season on Friday.

Townsend has coached boy’s golf program at Aptos for more than a decade but also coached tennis, football and track for the Mariners.

JC BASEBALL

• Skyline 3, Cabrillo 2 – The Cabrillo College Seahawks lost a heartbreaker to Skyline College on Tuesday, falling 3-2 in 16 innings at Aptos in Coast Conference play.

Clayton Andrews was 4-for-6 with a triple, a double and a walk for Cabrillo (22-11, 8-3), while Nick Ciandro went 2-for-7 with a double and an RBI. Adam Rossit and Sam Burns scored for the Seahawks, which will try to rebound today in a rematch against Skyline on the road at 2:30 p.m.

Brett de Geus had the start for Cabrillo and tossed eight solid innings, allowing six hits, an earned run and three walks while striking out nine. Tyler Biersdorff picked up the loss.

BOY’S GOLF

• SLV 193, St. Francis 232 – The St. Francis High Sharks lost 193-232 to the San Lorenzo Valley High Cougars on Tuesday in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League action at the Boulder Creek Country Club.

SLV’s Taj Yanez was the medalist with a 36.

St. Francis’ Chris Copriviza fired a 39. Izzie Mendez (41), Jason Kane (46) and David Vasquez (46) followed.

HS SOFTBALL

• Watsonville 4, North Salinas 2 – Jessica Rodriguez allowed only four hits, an earned run and two walks while striking out 16 batters in the Watsonville High Wildcatz 4-2 Monterey Bay League Gabilan division win over North Salinas High on Monday.

Zaira Pena had two RBIs and scored a run, while Juliana Wilson, Emily Orneales and Angelina Heredia all hit a double for Watsonville (15-1, 5-1).

Liyah Lopez was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Savanah Quintana drove in a run and scored one, too.

The Wildcatz continue their season on Saturday in their annual tournament at home. Their first game of the day is against Scotts Valley High.

• Aptos 16, Harbor 0 – Addison Sayers tossed a two-hit, four-inning shutout to lead the Aptos High Mariners past the Harbor High Pirates, 16-0, on Tuesday in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League action.

Mariah Sanchez hit a pair of doubles, drove in two runs and scored twice. Ashley Del Colletti was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two scored runs. Annika San Miguel also knocked in three runs and scored one, while Sophia Villegas had two RBIs, two scored runs and a double.

Aptos (3-8, 2-1) hosts St. Francis today at 4 p.m.

HS BASEBALL

• St. Francis 8, Pacific Grove 2 – Andrew Ciandro and Ruben Ibarra both hit homers in St. Francis High’s 8-2 non-league win over Pacific Grove High on Tuesday.

Ciandro finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a scored run, while Ibarra was 2-for-3 with a double, two scored runs and an RBI.

Chase Watkins had two RBIs and two scored runs and Derric Estrada-Haro also scored a pair of runs.

Richie Martinez picked up the win in four innings of relief. He allowed three hits, an earned run and three walks.

St. Francis (5-9, 1-3) plays Monte Vista Christian today at 4 p.m.

HS LACROSSE

• Aptos 10, Christopher 6 – Lucas Junod had a hat trick and the Aptos High Mariners edged the Christopher High Cougars 10-6 on Monday in Mission Trail Athletic League North division action.

For Aptos (9-3, 3-2), Jackson Carver made three assists, while Matthew Quinn and Jack Hegerle each scored twice and made an assist. Will Patterson scored once and made two assists.
