Brett de Geus scattered seven hits and allowed four walks but only surrendered two runs in the Cabrillo College Seahawks’ 7-2 Coast Conference win over De Anza College on Tuesday in Palo Alto.

De Geus struck out three and picked up the win, his seventh of the season.

Kyle Swanson hit a double and drove in three runs. Clayton Andrews was 1-for-2 with a triple, two scored runs and two walks. Easton Vidales and Tyler Biersdorff doubled.

Cabrillo (20-10, 8-2) host West Valley College today at 1 p.m.

HS FOOTBALL

• Collins signs with Redlands – Monte Vista Christian senior two-sport athlete signed his letter of intent to play baseball and football for the College of Redlands on Monday.

Collins, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound outside linebacker, was named the Pajaronian’s Defensive Player of the Year this season after finishing with eight sacks and two interceptions, which he returned for a pair of scores. He was also named a Monterey Bay League Gabilan First Team selection.

Collins has also starred for the baseball team, hitting .429 with 18 hits, 17 RBIs, four doubles, four home runs and 10 scored runs for the Mustangs through 14 games this season.

BOY’S HS GOLF

• Ramirez takes 2nd – Watsonville High’s Max Ramirez finished second out of 65 golfers at the Dave Bonetti Classic over the weekend at Crazy Horse Ranch Golf Club in Salinas.

Ramirez sunk a trio of birdies to finish with a 1-over Par 73.

HS SOFTBALL

• San Benito 5, Watsonville 4 – The Watsonville High Wildcatz suffered the first loss of the season on Tuesday, falling 5-4 to two-time defending Monterey Bay League Gabilan division champion San Benito High Haybalers in Hollister.

Watsonville falls to 14-1 overall and 4-1 in league play.

The Wildcatz will try to rebound on Monday at North Salinas High at 4:30 p.m.

• Monterey 1, MVC 0 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs lost a heartbreaker to the Monterey Toreadores on Tuesday in Monterey Bay League Gabilan division action in Monterey.

MVC (6-8, 3-8) hosts Monterey today at 4 p.m.

• Alvarez 6, MVC 1 – The doubles team of Tiger Wang and Bob Xia picked up the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs’ lone win of their 6-1 Monterey Bay League Gabilan division loss to Alvarez High on Tuesday.
