Jaqui Lopez had 24 assists, Julie Che finished with 12 kills and the Pajaro Valley High Grizzlies swept the Gonzales High Spartans 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 on Tuesday in non-league play.

Natalie Sanchez and Natalia Gallegos each added four aces, while Samantha Valdivia snuck in three aces.

Pajaro Valley (2-0) will get its first major test of the season today at Scotts Valley High. The non-league game is set for a 6:30 p.m. start.

• MVC 3, Harbor 0 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs swept the Harbor High Pirates 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 on Tuesday night in non-league action at home.

Cassidy Schurman had 14 kills and 11 digs for the defending Central Coast Section Division IV champion Mustangs (2-0).

M.V.C. travels to play reigning CCS D-III champion Burlingame High today at 6:15 p.m.

• Salinas 3, Aptos 0 – The Aptos High Mariners impressively averaged 16.3 digs per set but still fell in a 25-12, 25-23, 25-13 sweep to the Salinas High Cowboys on Tuesday in Salinas.

Cam Dueck led the team with 10 digs, Jillian Rodriguez led the team with seven kills and Chloe Manor made 11 assists. Payton Dueck impressed with a 2.42 passing average.

Aptos (0-2) will try to pick up its first win of the season today at home against San Benito High at 6:30 p.m.

• St. Francis 3, Kirby 0 – The St. Francis High Sharks swept Kirby 25-4, 25-15, 25-15 on Tuesday in non-league action.

Audrey Ryan had 11 aces and 25 assists, Emma Ryan chimed in with 11 kills and Madison Orradre made five rejections.

St. Francis, which hosted North Monterey County High on Wednesday (the results of that game were not available before print), finishes off a four-game homestand today against Anzar High at 6:30 p.m.

• Alvarez 3, Watsonville 0 – The Watsonville High Wildcatz lost in a 25-18, 25-19, 25-9 sweep to Alvarez High in Salinas on Tuesday in non-league play.

Julisa Vega had seven blocks for Watsonville (1-1), which travels to Pacific Grove High today at 6:30 p.m.

• Cabrillo 1, Santa Rosa 0 – Walmer Martinez scored an unassisted goal to lift Cabrillo College over Santa Rosa Junior College, 1-0, on Tuesday in the Seahawks’ season opener.
Talbot Heinz made three saves for Cabrillo, which hosts Folsom Lake on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
