The St. Francis High football and cheer teams are raising money for their upcoming trip to Milwaukie, Oregon by selling tickets to the San Francisco 49ers’ August 19 preseason football game against Sharks alumnus Ty Sambrailo and the Denver Broncos at Levi’s Stadium.

Each ticket is $40 and half of the proceeds will go to St. Francis, which is flying north to play La Salle on September 8. To purchase tickets visit fevo.me/2sRcbWW and to donate to St. Francis select other in the drop down menu during check out.

YOUTH BASEBALL

• Generals finish season strong – The Santa Cruz Generals U15 baseball team won the RCTB Season’s End Tournament in the North Lake Tahoe area recently, going undefeated and claiming the championship over Baseball University 2020 on Alex Taylor’s game-winning RBI single.

Taylor went 9 for 12 with two scored runs and also pitched a complete game in the championship. For his efforts, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Max Pierce was 7 for 12 with a pair of doubles in the tournament and also tossed a complete-game one-hitter in the semifinals. Shane Modena went 9 for 12 with two scored runs.

• P.V. earns awards – Pajaro Valley High cheerleader Liszette Gonzalez was honored as an All-American at a recent USA summer cheer camp at UC Santa Cruz.

Lead by longtime coach Matthew Davis, the Grizzlies earned the Summer Camp Superior Plaque and twice held the Spirit Stick, which is given to the team that shows the most enthusiasm and focus during the four-day camp with more than 300 cheerleaders from all over the state.

Julissa Espindola received the Pin-It-Forward award, while Camila Perez and Gonzalez won Strong-As-One ribbons.
