The Watsonville High Wildcatz swept the North Monterey County High Condors 25-18, 25-23, 25-16 on Tuesday night to open up their Monterey Bay League Pacific division season positively.

Camila Cardenas and Naomi Benitez had 10 kills apiece and Julisa Vega added four kills and made five blocks.

Watsonville (3-6, 1-0) continues its league slate tonight at home against North Salinas High at 6:30 p.m.

• Aptos 3, Santa Cruz 1 – The Aptos High Mariners started their Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League title defense with a 29-31, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24 win over the Santa Cruz High Cardinals on Tuesday night in Santa Cruz.

Jillian Rodriguez led the way with 19 kills, seven digs and seven aces, while Peyton Dueck was all over the court defensively with 32 digs. Lauren Picone made 14 digs and Dani Hewitt and Chloe Manor combined for 41 assists.

Aptos (1-4, 1-0) welcomes in St. Francis High tonight at 6:30 p.m.

• Mt. Madonna 3, Scotts Valley 0 – The Mt. Madonna Hawks kicked off their Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League season with a 25-13, 25-20, 25-21 sweep of Scotts Valley High on Tuesday night at home.

Mara Peruzzi had 14 kills, 10 digs and three aces while Indigo Kelly made 29 assists for Mt. Madonna.

• Harbor 3, St. Francis 1 – St. Francis High won the opening set but ultimately fell, 15-25, 23-25, 20-25, 20-25, to Harbor High in its Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League season opener at home on Tuesday.

St. Francis (5-2, 0-1) travels to Aptos High tonight at 6:30 p.m.

BOY’S WATER POLO

• Aptos 11, Christopher 8 – The Aptos High Mariners secured their first Monterey Bay League Gabilan division win of the season on Tuesday night, edging Christopher High behind Beck Escalante’s five goals.

Matt Morse added three scores and Tony Stranger made five saves for Aptos (1-1, 1-1), which hosts Salinas High tonight at 7 p.m.

• Cabrillo 2, Foothill 0 – Walmer Martinez and Pedro Mendoza scored, Steven Lopez dished out a pair of assists and the Cabrillo College Seahawks improved to 3-1 on the season with a non-conference win over Foothill College on Tuesday afternoon.

Cabrillo continues its season on Friday at home against Modesto Junior College at 6:30 p.m.

• St. Francis 7, SLV 0 – The St. Francis High Sharks swept the San Lorenzo Valley High Cougars on Tuesday in both teams’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League opener.
Gabi Gutierrez and Maya Talavera both won their singles matches in 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.

• Aptos 6, Scotts Valley 1 – The Aptos High Mariners began their Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League title defense with a win over Scotts Valley High on Tuesday.
