Several local high school basketball boys and girls teams qualified for the upcoming Central Coast Section postseason which officially tips off this weekend.

A handful of league champions will have some time off with byes in the first and second rounds, while others will begin playing as early as Friday night.

Below is a list of schools competing in this year’s CCS playoffs.

Boys

Division I

Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division co-champion Watsonville (17-7) earned the No. 10 seed and will host North Salinas (12-12) on Friday at 7pm.

The Wildcatz are looking to rebound following a 62-51 loss to co-champion North Monterey County on Feb. 14.  

Division III

Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League champion Aptos (22-4) earned the top seed and has a bye until the quarterfinals scheduled for Tuesday at 7pm. 

League rival Santa Cruz (15-11) is the No. 2 and also received a bye until the quarterfinals.

The Mariners are fresh coming off a 43-41 win over the Cardinals in the SCCAL Tournament championship on Feb. 15.

Division IV

Scotts Valley (12-14) is the No. 9 seed in the Division IV playoffs and will host Stevenson (11-13) on Friday at 7pm. The Falcons are coming off a 48-41 loss to Aptos in the SCCAL Tournament semifinals on Feb. 13.

Division V

PCAL Cypress Division champion St. Francis (21-3) is the No. 5 seed and has a bye until the second round scheduled for Saturday at 7pm. They will host the winner of Friday night’s first round game between No. 12 University Prep (15-8) and North Valley (13-3). 

The Sharks won 14 consecutive games to cap off the regular season and finished with a 12-0 record in league play this season.

Girls

Division I

Watsonville (19-5) is the No. 5 seed in the Division I playoffs and has a bye until the second round scheduled for Saturday at 7pm. They will host the winner of Friday night’s game between No. 12 Homestead (8-16) and Santa Teresa (14-9).

The Wildcatz won three straight to cap off the regular season, including a 42-29 victory over Alisal on Feb. 13.

Division III

Aptos (14-12) is the No. 8 seed and has a bye until the second round scheduled for Saturday at 7pm. They will host the winner of Friday night’s game between No. 9 Live Oak (18-7) and Greenfield (7-14). 

SCCAL runner-up Santa Cruz (13-10) is the No. 3 seed and has a bye until the quarterfinals on Feb. 25.

The Mariners fell to the Cardinals, 67-35, in the SCCAL Tournament semifinals on Feb. 12.

Division IV

SCCAL champion Scotts Valley (20-2) is the No. 5 seed in the Division IV playoffs and will host No. 12 Mercy (7-11) on Saturday at 7pm.

San Lorenzo Valley (9-13) plays at No. 11 Design Tech (14-6) on Friday at 7pm.

The Falcons—winners of 17 straight games—are coming off a 52-51 victory over Santa Cruz in the SCCAL Tournament championship on Feb. 15, capping off a perfect 12-0 record against league opponents this season.

Division V

PCAL Cypress Division champion St. Francis (21-2) is the No. 3 seed in the Division V playoffs and has a bye until next week’s quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7pm. 

The Sharks are coming off a 44-27 win over Pacific Collegiate which completed a perfect 14-0 season in league play this year.
