
A man suffered at least one stab wound Thursday afternoon in Capitola.
Capitola Police, aided by Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies and the California Highway Patrol rushed to the 1800 block of 44th Avenue where they located the victim suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen around 1:45pm.
Capitola Police Chief Sarah Ryan said the victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital for treatment, and that a crime scene had been set up around a home to complete the investigation. She added that no arrests had been made.
A woman who went by the name Ashley said she spotted a man, heavily bleeding, riding a bicycle through the Capitola Gardens apartments. By the time he reached 44th Avenue, he collapsed on the sidewalk, Ashley said. That’s when a man rushed in to help and Ashley phoned 911.
Police surrounded a home and called people out one at a time and then sealed off that section of the street with crime scene tape,
The incident is still under investigation.
