PRUNEDALE — A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday morning on Highway 101.

According to the California Highway Patrol, around 10 a.m., while traveling on Highway 101 in Prunedale south of Dunbarton Road during a family motorcycle trip, 24-year-old Steven Meacham of Tehachapi crashed his motorcycle into the back of a GMC Yukon, and was then ejected from his bike and ended up under a tractor trailer. He was severely injured and died on the scene.

Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to the CHP.

The truck involved left the scene before law enforcement arrived for unknown reasons. Monterey area CHP asks that truck tractor operators, who were traveling through the area at the time and date of the crash, to inspect their vehicles for any signs of damage due to the crash. They are asked to report back if they believe their vehicle could have been involved by calling 770-8038.
