According to Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Clark, Dominican Hospital received a threat from an unknown caller on Tuesday who claimed he was upset with the level of care a loved one had received. Because of this, he said he was going to use a firearm to commit an assault at the hospital.

Hospital officials locked down the hospital for more than an hour.

Sheriff’s officials believed the threat was sincere, and they also found he was traveling west from New Mexico.

The SCSO obtained a warrant and worked with law enforcement agencies in Arizona and multiple agencies in California.

This led to Swallow’s arrest by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office in Victorville at about 1:30 a.m., Wednesday morning. Swallow was not armed at the time of his arrest.
