WATSONVILLE — Maria de la Luz Rodriguez died on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Dominican Hospital. She was 86.
Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and was a resident of this community for 59 years. She was a very active salesperson/representative for Avon Products for 20 years. Most of all she loved to cook for her large family and spend time with them. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden. In her younger years she liked knitting and embroidery.
Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by two sons, Ernesto and Manuel Rodriguez, both from Watsonville; three daughters, Maria Rivera from Royal Oaks, Doris Salcido from Hollister, and Sylvia Marquez from Salinas; one brother, Juan Montes from Watsonville; four sisters, Andrea Leyba from Hollister, Margarita Montes from Mexico, Jesus Montes from Hollister, Salud Montes from Mexicali; numerous grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernesto Rodriguez; her son, Pete Rodriguez; and siblings, Agustin and Guadalupe Montes.
Private family services and burial were already held under the direction of Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
