MONTEREY—Aptos High senior guard Jaylen Dang drained five 3-pointers for the Mariners’ girls basketball team in a 47-29 win against Monterey High in non-league action Monday.

Dang finished with 19 points and five assists. Miricole Baity also made five 3-pointers, finishing with 17 points, and Jazmine Ackerman had nine points, eight rebounds and five steals for Aptos (6-1), which plays Alisal High on Thursday in the opening game at the North Salinas High Tournament. 

Aptos 47, Carmel 29: Jaylen Dang had 18 points for the Mariners in a win over the Padres in non-league play on Dec. 9.

Jasmine Ackerman and Grace Perry each added 10 points for Aptos.

St. Francis 49, Harbor 25: Mariah Montolvo finished with 16 points for the Sharks in their non-league win over the Pirates on Dec. 9.   

Aaliysah Gomez added 12 pointes and Klarisse Dayrit contributed seven points for St. Francis (2-2), which plays at Scotts Valley on Friday at 7pm.

St. Francis 46, Pacific Point Christian 18: Aaliysah Gomez scored nine points and Taylor Fischer added eight in the Sharks’ non-league win on Dec. 8.

Emily Raich and Nevaeh Litel each added seven points for the Sharks.

MVC 41, Soquel 40: Paloma Ramirez made a 3-pointer as time expired that helped the Mustangs to a non-league victory over the Knights on Dec. 7. 

Ramirez finished with 10 points, and Marissa Cortes made seven 3-pointers and finished with 23 points for the Mustangs (3-4), who host Los Altos High on Dec. 20 at 7pm.

Boys basketball 

Aptos 55, Lincoln 44: Cameron Saldana had 19 points and five steals to help the Mariners beat the Lions in the Bob Hagen Memorial Tournament championship at Gilroy High on Dec. 11.

The senior guard/forward accumulated 50 points in three games and he was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

Fellow teammate Jack Spinelli, a senior center, had 14 points and 19 rebounds and he was named to the all-tournament team. He tallied 31 points and 49 rebounds in three games, including a pair of double-doubles.

Senior point guard Max Baldeh had 12 points, two rebounds, two steals and two assists for Aptos (7-0), which will host Salinas on Tuesday at 7pm.

Aptos 50, Live Oak 29: Jack Spinelli with 10 points and 15 rebounds to help the Mariners earn the win over Live Oak in the semifinals of the Bob Hagen Memorial Tournament at Gilroy High on Dec. 10.

Aptos led the Acorns 17-5 at end of the first quarter and 30-12 at halftime.

Cameron Saldana scored 10 points for the Mariners. Max Baldeh and Hassan Ayyad each had eight points and Jaxon Becker scored six points off the bench.

Aptos 64, Sobrato 26: Cameron Saldana led the way with 21 points for the Mariners in a victory over the Bulldogs in the opening game of the Bob Hagen Memorial Tournament at Gilroy High on Dec. 9.  

Max Baldeh had 12 points, five assists and four steals. Marcel Martin had nine points and Jack Spinelli had seven points and 15 rebounds.

Watsonville 54, Pacific Point Christian 28: Oswaldo Hernandez scored 12 points and Brody Legions added eight points for the Wildcatz in their win in the first round of the Watsonville Tournament on Wednesday.

Karlos Corpus, Marcos Magana and Tajin Olivas each scored six points for the Wildcatz (2-4), who plays at San Benito (7-2) on Tuesday at 7pm.

Aptos 59, North Monterey County 39: Cameron Saldana finished with 24 points and the Mariners outscored the Condors 21-5 in the fourth quarter to earn the non-league win on Dec. 7.

Jack Spinelli had 16 points and 23 rebounds, and guard Max Beldah had 11 points and no turnovers.

Alisal 53, St. Francis 21: Junior Ibarra finished with six points for the Sharks in their loss to the Trojans at the Watsonville High Tournament on Dec. 9.

Dez Litel, Johrdan Garibay and Diego Rameriz each scored three points for St Francis (2-3), which plays Gilroy on Tuesday at 7pm.
