WATSONVILLE — Two young men have been arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for felony vandalism after they were discovered spray-painting Ramsay Skate Park on Wednesday.

Watsonville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit were out patrolling when they caught 19-year-old Victor Valladares and 18-year-old Diego Cahue, both of Watsonville, spray-painting a skate ramp at Ramsay Park, according to police.

City officials reportedly told police that they believe the damage will cost thousands of dollars to fix, and that the skate park will need to be closed temporarily for repairs.

According to Watsonville Police, before being taken to the county jail, Cahue and Valladares chose to write open letters to the city and its residents, apologizing for their behavior.
