The group Banda S7 treats the crowd to live Banda music Sunday in downtown Watsonville during a celebration of Mexican Independence Day. Thousands attended the open air event put on by Fiestas Patrias for the 28th year in a row. Mexican food, dancing, merchandise booths and seven live bands filled the event. The show was dedicated to the long-standing Watsonville Mariachi band leader and composer Eleazar Cortes, who died Sept. 7 in Mexico of a stroke, according to organizer Oscar Rios.
