A San Jose woman died on Carlton Road Monday when her motorcycle collided with a big rig at the corner of Thompson Road around 3:30pm.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Robert Padilla said the woman was traveling southbound on Carlton Road on a 2023 Honda CBR600RR motorcycle when she apparently lost control and slid over the double yellow line and beneath a Freightliner big rig with two men aboard who were traveling northbound on Carlton Road.

CHP officer Israel Murillo said the victim was a 30-year-old woman of San Jose. Her name was not released.

Carlton Road was shut down for several hours in order for the CHP to complete the investigation.

Some bystanders at the scene, who said they lived nearby, said that section of the road has a very dangerous curve where there have been many crashes and fatalities.

“It’s already a tight curve and those trees make it a blind curve; they should be trimmed back,” one man said.

It was unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved, Murillo said. The investigation is ongoing.
