California Highway Patrol officer Sam Courtney leads a procession Wednesday for the hearse (second in line) carrying the late Santa Cruz City Fire Capt. Brian Tracy. After a two-year battle with brain cancer, Tracy died April 27. He was born and raised in Santa Cruz and graduated from Harbor High School in 1999. He followed in his father’s footsteps by pursuing a career as a Santa Cruz City firefighter. A long line of firefighters, in various apparatus, joined the procession from Pacific Gardens Chapel to a crematory on San Jose Soquel Road.
