New laundromat opens in East Lake Village

A new laundromat has opened in the East Lake Village Shopping Center.

Owner Robert Ruiz said Laundry Room features 30 driers and 35 heavy-duty washing machines that can handle from two to eight loads (80 pounds) of wash.

The 2,000-square-foot facility, which replaces a former laundromat in the same spot, 984 East Lake Ave., is sandwiched between Staff of Life Natural Foods and Ace Hardware and is steps away from Coffeeville, Fruition Brewery, Sushi QU restaurant and a host of other businesses.

Ruiz, who also owns laundromats in King City and Salinas, said he equipped the East Lake site with all new machines, new lighting and a flat-screen television.

“I really like the community here,” he said. “I’ve met a lot of people that have come in just to have a look and welcome me to the area. And it’s a nice shopping center to open this business.”

The current hours are from 6am to 9pm.

“But we’ll see what our customers want; we’re open to changing our operating hours,” Ruiz said.
