A man was killed Friday night when he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross Main Street in Watsonville.

Michelle Pulido, spokeswoman for Watsonville Police, said the man, who was in his 50s, was struck just after 7:30pm.

Police on the scene said the driver of the Nissan Altima involved pulled over and cooperated with police.

The victim appeared to be crossing the street behind Round Table Pizza outside of a crosswalk on the 1900 block of southbound Main Street between Green Valley Road and Crossroads Square.

After being struck, the man ended up on the fast lane where he was pronounced dead.

Police closed off that section of Main Street for more than five hours to allow WPD’s traffic team to collect evidence.

The incident is still under investigation.
