WATSONVILLE — A 60-year-old man died in Capitola Saturday when he was struck by a car on Bay Avenue.

Capitola Police Sgt. Cliff Sloma said a 50-year-old woman entered Bay Avenue from the Nob Hill parking lot around 8:30 p.m. She told police the victim “suddenly appeared in the roadway,” and said she didn’t have enough time to brake and struck him.

The victim was taken to Dominican Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sloma said the woman was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The incident is still under investigation.
