FREEDOM — Pedro G. Espejo died on Thursday, May 25, 2017, surrounded by his family at his home in Freedom. He was 94. 

A native of Mexico, he lived in the Watsonville area since 1961. He worked as a butcher for 30 years, at both the Happy Burro Market and Pajaro Food Center. Mr. Espejo was a member of Church of the Assumption. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Espejo is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carmen; sons, Pedro (Delia) and Luis (Edith) Espejo, both of Hollister, German and Jose Espejo; daughters, Leonor, Francisca and Juana Espejo; three brothers and three sisters of Mexico and Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-9 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10 a.m. at Church of the Assumption. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery.
