A crew from Auto Care Towing of Watsonville hoists a 30-foot Aptos Blue pine tree into the Watsonville City Plaza Wednesday morning with an 80-ton rotator rig. The live tree came from Gilroy Gardens and, after holiday celebrations, will be planted in a local park. Auto Care has been donating their equipment and labor for the past eight years to install the tree which will be the centerpiece of the Holiday in Lights festivities in the downtown area for Christmas. “It’s our way of giving back to our community,” said Janette Ramer of Auto Care. “This is our town and we’re happy to help.” Due to the pandemic, the tree lighting ceremony will be skipped this year.
