People venture into Esperanza Community Farms on Lee Road in Watsonville Oct. 7 during the 10th annual Open Farms Tour. Every year, a handful of farms around Santa Cruz County open their doors over a chosen weekend to give a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how they function. The public can also meet local producers who grow the food they buy in grocery stores and at farmers’ markets. At Esperanza, guests got a chance to harvest their own produce and take home vegetables for the table and flower seeds to plant in their own garden.
