Watsonville Police set up on White Street in Watsonville Thursday just after 11am where they tracked down a 17-year-old male who ran from them while armed with a handgun. Police were initially alerted about a person on the Watsonville High campus before 11am who was armed. Police searched the area and within minutes spotted a person matching the description of the suspect on Riverside Drive near White Street. After a brief chase police apprehended the teen and found a handgun in his waistband. The teen, who has local gang ties, was taken to the Santa Cruz Juvenile Hall for bringing a gun onto campus and resisting arrest.
