SANTA CRUZ COUNTY—For the past 19 years, the Celebrate Piano Ensemble (CPE) has provided local pianists a way to explore pieces for two pianos (four to eight hands), all the while aiming to benefit school-age music students in Santa Cruz County.

CPE’s annual February concert is normally held at the Recital Hall of UC Santa Cruz’s Music Center and is a benefit for the Talent Bank Scholarship Fund and the Josephine Alvarado Memorial Bach Scholarship Fund, both projects of the Santa Cruz County Branch of Music Teachers’ Association of California (SCCMTAC).

But this year, CPE has chosen to release a special “Best Of” video on April 11, featuring favorite pieces of members over the past decade. The video will be available to watch via SCCMTAC’s website, where viewers will also be able to make additional donations to its tax-deductible scholarship funds.

Despite the changes to their lives due to the pandemic, local music students have been working hard to prepare for this year’s scholarship opportunities. Funds will directly support these students’ music futures.
