A Watsonville man with an extensive criminal record was arrested Monday after he allegedly exposed himself to several women in a laundromat.

Joel Navarro, 27, was charged with assault with intent to commit mayhem, rape, sodomy, oral copulation, sexual battery, attempted sexual battery and indecent exposure. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail without bail.

Officers on patrol identified Navarro after the owner of the laundromat on the 1200 block of Main Street reported the July 15 incident.

Investigators are looking for victims.

On the evening of July 15, Navarro was wearing a gray hooded sweater, black sweatpants and red shoes.

Navarro’s criminal record includes convictions for cruelty to animals, possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary and petty theft, court records show.

Anyone who may have been inappropriately approached by Navarro is asked to call Officer Marcos Rios at 471.1151.
