Police seek information on vehicle suspected in Capitola armed robbery

CAPITOLA—The Capitola Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify the owner or location of a vehicle involved in the robbery of an armored truck Wednesday in Capitola.

The vehicle is a black 2010-2015 body Toyota Tacoma SR5. Identifying features include: slight lift kit to truck, black Method brand wheels, all-terrain tires, chrome rear bumper, chrome tailgate emblems, small sticker or dealer information below “Tacoma” on the left of the tailgate, and oxidized headlights with the front grill spray painted black.

Police say the truck was used to flee the parking lot near the Bay Federal Credit Union on Clares Street after the armed robbery of the armored vehicle guard.

Additionally, the truck had stolen license plates on it during the robbery. The original license plates of the suspect’s Tacoma are unknown.

The suspect, who acted alone, is a male adult, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He was wearing a baseball hat, face mask and gloves during the robbery.

Police said it was a planned and targeted incident to steal money from the armored truck guard.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or its whereabouts is asked to call CPD detectives at 475.4242, extension 260.
