A routine traffic stop by Watsonville Police Tuesday led to three arrests after officers reportedly discovered two unregistered guns in the vehicle.

According to police, officers were patrolling in the area of Freedom Boulevard and Alta Vista Avenue on Tuesday when they pulled over Cierra Rodriguez, 23, for loud car exhaust.

With two passengers in the car on probation, officers conducted a probation search and found two loaded guns in two separate backpacks, high-capacity magazines, and ammunition inside a plastic bag, police said.

Rodriguez was arrested on gun charges and child endangerment as she had a 2-year-old child in the backseat of the car. David Maciel, 19, a convicted felon, was also booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on firearm charges. A 17-year-old, on active probation, was also arrested on gun charges and taken to Juvenile Hall.

Officers released the 2-year-old to a family member.
