WATSONVILLE — Local resident Karina Salgado will be hosting her first “Rise” networking event at the Watsonville Woman’s Club, 12 Brennan St., on July 29 from 4-8 p.m.

Salgado, 25, recently graduated from California State University East Bay with a degree in Communications and is seeking to use her new skills to help local businesses grow.

Salgado said she remembered that as a kid she wanted more community-type events where she could meet people and experience local entertainment. This is what she hopes her event will achieve.

She believes the event will blend elements of a traditional networking fair — connecting local business to customers and clients — and the more community-based feel of Watsonville.

She believes people will be able to find good deals, while simultaneously being exposed to parts of Watsonville they may not have been aware of. Furthermore, “Rise” will feature local artists who will be able to find new audiences.

There are already several businesses that have joined the event, including modeling and acting agent firm John Casablancas Modelling and Career Center.

“This event is all about bringing opportunities, awareness and support from the community to the businesses and musicians involved. The purpose of ‘The Rise Events’ is to help people rise in their profession,” Salgado said.

Tickets are available now at theriseevents.squarespace.com and you can follow Rise Events on Instagram at the_rise1.
