ROYAL OAKS — Rita R. Hanks died at her home in Royal Oaks on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017. She was 96.

Mrs. Hanks was born to Andrew and Rillia Mobbs in Brighton, Ark. and grew up as a hardworking farm girl. That strong work ethic she learned as a child was carried throughout her life. She worked at Watsonville Dry Cleaners for 20 years before retiring. Mrs. Hanks was devoted to her faith and active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Watsonville where you could find her every Saturday.

Mrs. Hanks is survived by her daughters, Shirley Terra, Patsy Hubbell and Debra Greene (Phil), all of Royal Oaks, and Melba Lewis of Watsonville; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Hanks in 1980.

A graveside service will be held at the Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, 127 Hecker Pass Road, on Monday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
