Ronald J. Biddlecome died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home in Watsonville. He was 84. 

A native of Coronado, Calif., he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp immediately following graduation from high school there. He received a purple heart after being wounded in the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Biddlecome moved to Watsonville in 1975 and worked as a bus operator with Santa Cruz Metro for 20 years. The majority of his career was spent serving the UCSC campus. In his retirement he enjoyed buying and then selling old cars after restoring them.

Mr. Biddlecome is survived by sons, Steve, Eddie, Ray, Ron, Jr., and Bruce Biddlecome; daughters, Pamela and Velma Biddlecome; brother, Butch Biddlecome; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Monica; and brother, John.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, 1 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery with military honors.
