SALINAS — A Watsonville woman who worked as a softball coach in Salinas is facing charges that she molested one of her players, the Salinas Police Department announced.

Madison Nott-Perez, 20, turned herself in to the Salinas Police Department and was arrested without incident. She was charged with several counts of lewd acts with a child, contacting a minor to commit an offense and kidnapping.

She was booked into Monterey County Jail, but was not in custody on Dec. 26, jail records showed.

According to the Salinas Police Department, the mother of a 13-year-old girl called about inappropriate text messages she found on her daughter’s phone that occurred between Nott-Perez and the girl.

The victim was a member of the Aldrete Softball Academy12u club, for which Nott-Perez was a coach.

According to investigators, the victim’s parents believed the relationship between the victim and Nott-Perez “bordered on inappropriate.”

Because of this feeling, they took away the victim’s electronic devices as a precaution, police said.

After the season ended, the parents looked through those devices before they returned them to the victim and found inappropriate conversations.

Further investigation revealed that Nott-Perez allegedly inappropriately touched the victim during the 2018 fall softball season, which lasted from August through October. This contact occurred when Nott-Perez met with the victim after practice or after team building events, police said.

When the victim had her phone taken away, Nott-Perez gave her another one, so she would be able to contact the victim without the parent’s knowledge, police said.

Nott-Perez has been a softball coach for the Aldrete Softball Academy and possibly other organizations in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call Salinas Police Detective Yolanda Rocha at 758-7124 or
