SANTA CRUZ COUNTY—Gyms, barbershops, beauty salons, places of worship and shopping malls across Santa Cruz County will all have to close their indoor services on Tuesday, county health officials announced Monday.
Retail and existing outdoor restaurant operations are unaffected by the new county health orders and may continue operating under state guidelines for their respective sectors. Additionally, hair salons and personal services (including skin care, cosmetology, nail services and massage therapy but not electrology, tattooing and piercing services) may continue operations outdoors under state guidelines.
The new orders came after Santa Cruz County spent its third day on the state’s Monitoring List Monday, and surpassed 900 total Covid-19 cases over the weekend. Currently, there are 573 active cases in the county.
