Aniketh Kumar

A Seaside man was arrested in Pajaro on Saturday after he reportedly entered the open door of a residence, walked into a bedroom occupied by two young girls, began mumbling and proceeded to remove his pants.

The girls, ages 6 and 9, screamed, and their family members rushed in and confronted the suspect, 31-year-old Aniketh Kumar, who fought until being dragged outside and detained until deputies arrived.

Kumar was taken to a hospital for injuries he suffered during the scuffle. He was not listed as being in custody Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the call at a residence in the 200 block of Brooklyn Street in Pajaro at about 9 a.m.

The girls were unharmed, the press release says.

Investigators later learned that Kumar had entered a nearby apartment just prior to entering the residence on Brooklyn Street. During that incident, Kumar fled after the occupants yelled at him that they were calling the Sheriff’s Office.

In the interest of public safety, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is releasing Kumar’s photograph. Anyone with information about this or any other similar incident is asked to call 831-755-3700 or submit information anonymously at mcso.countyofmonterey.gov by selecting the “Submit a Tip” tab.
